I watched this movie, finally, for the first time today. If you haven’t seen it, I strongly recommend it. It is very good, and throws out some ideas that actually parallel my own thinking on some things. Like the lifeline — the spectrum of emotion, where fear and love are the polar opposites. It is true that these are the two most primal of emotions, from which all other emotions stem.
I feel like Donnie does. I relate to him. A lot of my high school memory is filled with emotions similar to what Donnie faced.
There is a song from the movie, at the end, that has stuck with me all day. Mad World. I know this notion comes from the darker side of my personality, but I think that this is the song I want played at my wake. I have long toyed with the idea of putting together a video message to be played after my passing. Thought this might be a good song to put to my farewell.
Anyways, this movie has become strongly lodged in my top 10 favorite movies (an arbitrary list not necessarily confined to ten titles).
