The human capacity for self-deception never ceases to amaze me. And frankly it makes me laugh my ass off. Well, most of the time anyway.
Its just amusing to watch people distort events to help them preserve their self-mirage (ie: their self-image). Whether that be convincing themselves something didn’t happen, or victimizing themselves to escape responsibility for what befalls them do to their own actions (or inaction as the case may be), its just downright hysterical.
Whats more amusing is when they have succumbed to the deception and believe it to be true and then start trying to convince everyone around them. Particularly when that convincing is being attempted on people who are in a position to know better.
A certain president comes to mind, as does a handful of other people I’ve had the misfortune to know.
